TL;DR
Campaign settings are spread across 4 steps, Campaign Details, Create Sequence, Campaign Setup, and Review and Publish
The most important settings are in Step 3, scheduling, inbox selection, sending priority, and deliverability toggles
Most settings have recommended defaults, this article explains what each one does and what to set it to
When in doubt, stick with the recommended settings, they are optimized for B2B cold email
Why this matters / When you'd use this
Every setting in your campaign affects either your deliverability, your reply rate, or both. Knowing what each one does means you can make informed decisions when setting up a new campaign and troubleshoot confidently if something is not performing as expected.
Campaign name, lead import and sequence writing are covered in How do I create a campaign in Email Engine?, How do I use the AI Script Writer to write my cold email sequence? and How do I use spintax in ListKit?
Step 3 settings - Campaign Setup
This is the most important step. These settings control how, when, and to whom your campaign sends.
Lead list
Shows the leads list imported in Step 1. If you want to change it, click Manage to return to Step 1 and re-import.
Email accounts (Inbox selection)
The inboxes that will send this campaign. Select all available warmed-up inboxes for maximum sending capacity. Pre-warmed inboxes are ready as soon as they appear on the Inboxes page and ramp from 1 to 25 emails a day over 7 days. If you registered new branded domains, add those inboxes once their warmup finishes.
Time zone
The time zone used to determine your sending window. Set this to match your target audience's time zone, not yours.
Campaign start date
The date your campaign begins sending. Emails will not go out before this date regardless of when you publish.
Sending days
The days of the week your campaign sends. The recommended setting for B2B outreach is Monday to Friday only. Make sure Saturday and Sunday are turned off. Most B2B prospects are not at work on weekends and reply rates drop significantly.
Sending hours
The time window within each sending day when emails go out. The recommended setting is 9am to 5pm in your target audience's time zone. Sending outside business hours reduces reply rates for B2B campaigns.
Minutes between emails
The gap between each individual email send. This controls the pacing of your campaign throughout the day. A gap of around 20 minutes is a reasonable starting point, it spaces out your sends naturally and avoids sending in obvious bulk patterns.
Maximum new leads per day (per campaign)
The cap on how many new contacts enter your sequence per day. This is separate from your inbox sending limit, it controls how quickly you work through your leads list. Useful for pacing a large list or running multiple campaigns simultaneously without overloading your inboxes.
Each inbox sends up to 25 emails a day once its 7-day ramp-up finishes. The limit is locked during ramp-up. See What are sending limits and how are they set in my inboxes?
Sending priority - Follow-ups vs new leads
Controls how your inbox sending capacity is split between follow-up emails to existing contacts and first emails to new contacts.
Example: 70% new leads, 30% follow-ups means the majority of your daily sends go to new prospects while your existing sequence continues running in the background.
Adjust this based on the size of your leads list and how far into your sequence most contacts currently are.
Auto-pause for same domain
When enabled, this automatically pauses sending to all contacts at a company as soon as anyone from that company replies. This prevents you from accidentally emailing multiple people at the same organization while a conversation is already in progress, which can damage relationships and lead to spam complaints.
Recommended: on. Check that the toggle is on before you publish.
AI lead categorization
When enabled, AI automatically categorizes incoming replies into:
Interested
Meeting Booked
Not Interested
Out of Office
Unsubscribed
Bounced
Uncategorized
Replies marked Interested or Meeting Booked also trigger positive-reply notifications (see How do I set up positive reply notifications in Email Engine?).
This feeds directly into your Master Inbox and keeps your reply management organized without manual sorting.
Recommended: leave this on.
Additional AI categorization options:
Exclude Out-of-Office replies from reply rate calculation, removes OOO replies from your reply rate metric so your stats reflect genuine engagement rather than automated responses. Recommended: on.
Re-engage OOO leads after a set number of days, automatically re-enters contacts who replied with an out-of-office message into the sequence after a defined period, once they are likely back at their desk. Useful for maintaining coverage without manually tracking OOO replies. This is the one exception to the rule that any reply stops a lead's sequence.
Step 4 settings - Review and Publish
This is a summary screen with no editable settings. Before clicking Publish Campaign, review:
Campaign summary: campaign name, total leads imported, credit usage
Email sequence: subject lines, follow-up timing, and variants for each step
Sending settings: selected inboxes, daily limits, start date, and schedule
If everything looks correct, click Publish Campaign. Your campaign will begin sending automatically on the selected start date.
Pre-launch checklist
Before you publish, run through the pre-launch checklist in How do I create a campaign in Email Engine?
Frequently asked questions
Can I edit campaign settings after publishing?
Yes, but some changes, particularly to the sequence and schedule, may affect sending timing for contacts already in the campaign. Make changes carefully and check with support if you are unsure about the impact.
What happens if I do not select any inboxes?
Your campaign will not send. You must select at least one active, warmed-up inbox before publishing.
Should I always turn off Saturday and Sunday?
For B2B outreach, yes. Most business professionals are not checking work email on weekends and reply rates are significantly lower. Make sure Saturday and Sunday are turned off.
What is the difference between the inbox sending limit and Maximum New Leads Per Day?
The inbox sending limit controls how many emails each individual inbox can send per day. Maximum New Leads Per Day controls how many new contacts enter your sequence per day across the whole campaign. Both work together to pace your sending.
