How do I edit, pause, duplicate or delete a campaign?

Use the campaign row menu to edit, pause, resume, stop, duplicate or delete a campaign. Deleted campaigns can't be restored.

Written by Andre Haykal Jr

TL;DR

  • On the Campaign page, open the three-dot menu on a campaign's row: Edit, Pause (or Resume), Stop, Duplicate, Delete.

  • Pause stops sending right away, and Resume starts it again. Stop is permanent.

  • The sequence is locked while a campaign is live. Pause it, edit, then resume.

  • Duplicate a campaign to reuse it or to add new leads.

  • Delete is permanent. Deleted campaigns can't be restored.

When you'd use this

Use this when you want to change a live campaign's emails or settings, take a break from sending, reuse a campaign that works, or clean up campaigns you've finished with.

What each action does

Action

What happens

Edit

Opens the 4-step editor. You can also click the campaign name.

Pause

Stops sending right away. Leads, progress and stats are kept. Status shows Paused.

Resume

Shown instead of Pause on a paused campaign. Sending continues where it left off.

Stop

Ends the campaign for good. It becomes read-only and its stats are kept. It can't be resumed.

Duplicate

Makes a copy of the campaign that you can edit and publish as a new campaign.

Delete

Permanently removes the campaign and its leads, including their Master Inbox history. It can't be undone.

Step-by-step

Edit a live campaign's emails

  1. Open the Campaign page (next.listkit.io/campaign) and click the campaign name, or choose Edit from its row menu.

  2. Go to step 2, Create Sequence. You'll see "Sequences cannot be edited while the campaign is active."

  3. Click Pause campaign. Sending stops until you resume.

  4. Make your changes. They save when you move to another step.

  5. Resume the campaign from its row menu with Resume.

Your changes apply to emails that haven't been sent yet. Emails already sent don't change.

Change settings

Open the campaign, go to step 3, Campaign Setup, and change inboxes, schedule or campaign settings. Changes save when you move to another step. See What do the campaign settings mean?.

Pause or resume

Choose Pause from the row menu. To start again, choose Resume. You can resume at any time while your subscription is active.

Duplicate

Choose Duplicate from the row menu, then open the copy with Edit, change what you need and publish it. Duplicating is how you add new leads to a campaign that already runs (see How do I add more leads to a campaign?) or reuse a winning sequence for a new audience.

Delete

Choose Delete from the row menu and confirm. Deleted campaigns can't be restored. If you still have the CSV and want to send to those leads again, upload it to a new campaign and turn on the option to exclude leads that are already in another campaign so nobody gets the first email twice.

Removing leads from a launched campaign also permanently deletes their Master Inbox history.

Expected outcome

Your campaign is updated, paused, copied or removed the way you wanted, and you know which actions can be undone: Pause can, Stop and Delete can't.

FAQ

Can I go back into a campaign and edit the email information?

Yes. Open the campaign, click Pause campaign in the sequence step, edit your emails, then resume. Changes apply to emails not sent yet.

Can I restore a deleted campaign?

No. Deleted campaigns can't be restored, and their leads' Master Inbox history is gone too.

Should I stop or pause?

Pause if you might continue later. Stop only when you're done with the campaign for good, because it can't be resumed.

Should I pause a campaign before starting another one?

No. Campaigns can run at the same time. If they use the same inboxes, they share those inboxes' daily limits.

Resume gives me a renew-subscription error. What do I do?

Make sure you're logged in with the email address tied to your subscription. If it still fails, check that your last payment went through. Send us a message in the app. Our support team replies Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm ET, usually within 2 hours. Messages sent outside those hours are answered the next business day.

Does deleting a campaign free up contact storage?

Yes. Contact storage counts leads in active campaigns, up to 20,000 per Bundle, so deleting campaigns you no longer need frees space.
