To recycle leads, create a new campaign and choose Import from another campaign as the lead source. ListKit leaves out everyone who replied, bounced or unsubscribed, re-verifies the rest and adds only the verified emails.
TL;DR
Recycling reuses leads you've already sourced, so you don't have to buy a new list.
When you create a new campaign, choose Import from another campaign as the lead source.
Anyone who replied (any reply), bounced or unsubscribed is left out. Only leads whose sequence is finished are taken.
The remaining leads are re-verified and only verified emails are added. This costs 0.1 credit per lead.
You can select up to 10 campaigns and up to 10,000 leads per import.
Send them a new angle, not the same email again.
When you'd use this
Use this when a campaign has finished and you want to reach the same market again, or when your market is small and you don't want to run out of people to email.
Typically about 95% of a list never replied, bounced or unsubscribed. Those people haven't said no. Re-sending to that group after 1 to 3 months is standard practice, especially when your total market is limited. Ramp, a large fintech, recycles its target market every 2 to 3 months.
This is the same idea as in Why aren't my cold email campaigns performing, and how do I fix them?: most people touch a lead 2 to 3 times and call the list burnt, but most of your market has never meaningfully engaged with your message.
How to recycle leads
Step 1: Start a new campaign
Create a new campaign. See How do I create a campaign in Email Engine?. Give it a clear name, for example the original name plus "recycle".
Step 2: Choose Import from another campaign
When you add leads, you have three options:
Upload your own CSV | Use this for leads from anywhere, including other tools. |
Import from your ListKit order history | Use this for leads you exported from ListKit. |
Import from another campaign | Use this to reuse leads you've already sourced. |
Choose Import from another campaign.
Step 3: Pick the campaigns and the number of leads
Select the campaigns you want to pull leads from. You can select up to 10 campaigns, and import up to 10,000 leads at a time.
Who is left out. Everyone who replied (any reply), bounced or unsubscribed is not imported. Only leads whose sequence is finished are taken, so nobody is in two campaigns at once.
Step 4: Let ListKit re-verify the leads
The remaining leads are re-verified, and only verified emails are added to your new campaign. Re-verification costs 0.1 credit per lead. Credits are charged once verification finishes and the final count is known.
Step 5: Change the message before you publish
Don't send the same email again. Write a different subject line and opener, and lead with a different problem or outcome than last time. People who ignored one pitch often reply to another. Then check your sequence and Campaign Setup and publish.
What good looks like
Recycle on a schedule that fits your market. Re-sending after 1 to 3 months is standard, and more often only makes sense if you have a new angle. If you run out of fresh leads, How do I add more leads to a campaign? explains how to add new people as well.
Expected outcome
Your new campaign has leads from your finished campaigns, minus everyone who replied, bounced or unsubscribed.
Every lead in it has a verified email.
You spent 0.1 credit per lead on the re-verification.
